Having managed a successful law firm for more than 25 years, Edward has personally led and resolved numerous multi-million-dollar cases in both state and federal courts involving personal injury, wrongful death, aviation, maritime, product liability, and commercial matters.
At Bridgepoint ADR, Edward draws upon his deep courtroom background to facilitate fair, durable, and interest-based resolutions. His approach is grounded in preparation, empathy, and strategic thinking—qualities that have defined his decades-long career as a trusted advocate and now as a respected neutral.
Edward is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator for Circuit Civil and County Court cases and a Qualified Arbitrator, as well as a U.S. District Court Certified Mediator for the Middle District of Florida. He has mediated and arbitrated cases across a wide range of industries, including aviation accidents governed by international treaties, complex commercial disputes, and catastrophic injury cases.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, and certified as a Spanish speaker by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), Edward is uniquely equipped to navigate bilingual and multicultural negotiations. His ability to bridge cultural and linguistic divides is a defining strength in today’s increasingly global dispute landscape.
Edward’s academic credentials reflect both intellectual rigor and leadership. He holds a Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from Columbia University, graduating with distinction (GPA 4.23/4.33), and a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School, where he served as Editor of The Forum newspaper and received the Debevoise Scholarship. His early legal foundation was shaped by a clerkship with the U.S. Department of Justice – Civil Environmental Division and his induction into Phi Delta Phi, the international legal honor society.
Before joining Bridgepoint ADR, Edward founded and managed Montoya Law, P.A., a Miami-based litigation firm representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil and aviation matters. His leadership extended beyond the courtroom—training and mentoring dozens of paralegals and law clerks, many of whom went on to become successful attorneys.
A passionate advocate for fairness and inclusion, Edward also serves as Secretary and past Chairman of CASA, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to protecting immigrant families and expanding access to justice.
